But it is understood that no one has sustained any serious injuries, while Fernandes is expected to take part in training at the club’s Carrington training ground later on Monday.
The Portugal international has been a mainstay in the United team since joining from Sporting Lisbon back in January 2020, scoring 49 in 120 appearances.
He has scored nine goals and registered 14 assist in 40 games so far this season.
Manchester United take on Liverpool in a crucial Premier League clash as the Red Devils continue their attempts at pushing into a top four spot.
And United coach Ralf Rangnick has hinted that Fernandes will be available for the clash despite the incident.
Rangnick said: “Yes, he was training with the team,” he said.
“Obviously the accident happened on the way to Carrington but as far as I know nobody was injured.
“He trained with the team and he was OK. That’s why I think he will also be OK for tomorrow.”
Rangnick's side currently lie fifth in the table, some three points behind Tottenham who occupy the final Champions League place with six games to go.
They could go level on points with Spurs with a win at Anfield tomorrow evening, with the north London club not playing again until Saturday.
