Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, and Muhammad Amaad, 26, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday

CCTV footage from an alleged assault at Manchester Airport has been shown to the trial jury, showing the moment a police officer's nose was broken.

Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, and Muhammad Amaad, 26, appeared in court on Monday following the incident in July last year. Both men have pleaded not guilty to the alleged offences as the trial continues.

CCTV footage of their alleged assault shows three police officers at the scene, appearing to be knocked to the floor in their attempt to contain the two brothers.

The incident began when Amaaz allegedly head-butted a customer at a Starbucks cafe in the arrivals area. Minutes later, armed officers PC Zachary Marsden and PC Ellie Cook, along with unarmed PC Lydia Ward, approached the brothers at a paystation in the terminal's car park.

Prosecutors told the court the footage captured what they described as a "high level of violence" directed at the officers.

Junior counsel Adam Birkby told the court that Amaaz threw 10 punches during the confrontation, including one that knocked PC Ward to the floor. Amaad allegedly aimed six punches at PC Marsden.

The prosecution said Amaaz also kicked PC Marsden and struck PC Cook twice with his elbow. He allegedly punched PC Marsden from behind before PC Cook discharged her Taser.

Birkby said: "Mr Amaaz, while prone, lifts his head towards the officers. PC Marsden kicks Mr Amaaz around the head area. PC Marsden stamps his foot towards the crown of Mr Amaaz's head area but doesn't appear to connect with Mr Amaaz."

PC Marsden told the court he approached with the intention of taking "immediate control" but was "met with immediate resistance" when he placed his hands on Amaaz's arm.

He said: "My initial fear is that someone is trying to get my gun. If someone gained my firearm, it would pose an immediate lethal threat to anyone in the vicinity."

The officer described receiving "blows from all directions" from the second man. When asked about the force level, PC Marsden replied: "I can confidently say they were the hardest I have ever felt in my life."

He said no members of the public intervened to help during the incident.
