A luxury building next to the US embassy in London is in "lockdown" as police launch a murder investigation.

The alleged murder took place at the DAMAC Tower, a high-rise residential building which is part of the Nine Elms development.

GB News has had sight of correspondence from building management informing residents that the lifts were unable for use.

One resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, told this broadcaster that deliveries had been blocked by management and that the building was essentially on "lockdown".

Detective Inspector Aytac Necati, who is leading the investigation, said: "Sadly, a man has lost his life in the most horrendous of circumstances. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

"We understand the effect this will have on the local community and will ensure that officers are deployed on reassurance patrols to respond to any questions or concerns.

"Two men have already been arrested. Detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened. At this time, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."

Residents were notified by the police investigation this morning by building management.

Boasting at least 40 floors of flats, the building is home to many wealthy foreign students and businesspeople.

The developers boast that the DAMAC Tower offers "the perfect blend of modern architecture and Versace elegance," with the famous Italian designer contracted to design the building interiors.
