Locals have been left terrified after a mysterious figure has been terrorising neighbourhoods in Liverpool.
The peculiar figure, believed to be in a full-body black catsuit, has been observed moving on hands and knees whilst making feline sounds in the vicinity of Wallasey Beach on the Wirral peninsula.
Local residents in the Merseyside area have reported multiple sightings of the figure, who has been seen crawling along footpaths and lurking around a nearby Harvester restaurant.
The individual, clad head-to-toe in form-fitting black attire including a mask, has left numerous locals deeply unsettled.
The cat-like figure has been terrorising locals
Local resident Abbie Gilbert shared her terrifying encounter on a community Facebook page, writing: "Anyone know who the freak in the cat mask and morph suit is at the coastal park near the harvester?
"I was walking my dog tonight and heard a man making cat noises, shone a torch, he was waving his arms at me before crawling up the hill! Never been so scared!"
Another woman recounted hearing growling sounds whilst walking her terrier Mac in the darkness away from street lighting.
Upon illuminating the area with her mobile phone, she discovered "a man in a panther costume" approaching her on all fours up the hillside.

She stated: "I didn't feel scared really, he was just waving his arms and making panther noises. I felt more confused than scared."
Social media responses have ranged from terror to amusement, with locals calling the crawling figure various names, including "urban jaguar," "banshee," and "gimp".
Resident Becky Edwards shared that her friend had encountered the same individual months earlier, sharing an image of the suited person writhing on the ground beside a fence.
Whilst some found the situation deeply disturbing, describing it as "the stuff of nightmares", others responded with humour.

One commenter joked: "I went through a stage of doing this year's ago, but I've now got through it, don't ask meow."
Another local suggested the crawling figure might simply be someone "having a laugh".
Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell has urged members of the public to immediately report any sightings of the costumed individual to police.
