Last year the enterprise award was presented by King Charles

A business in the West Midlands has officially been presented with their King’s Award for Enterprise in a ceremony yesterday.

Rem3dy Health, based in Smethwick, won in the ‘Innovation’ category for their manufacturing of 3D-printed nutritional gummy sweets.

Given their award by the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Sir John Cabtree OBE, staff at the company gathered to hear the official presentation.

The Lord-Lieutenant said: “We recognise the outstanding achievement of the said award recipient, as demonstrated in the application of ‘Innovation’ in our United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, our Channel Islands, and our Isle of Man.

“Wishing to show our royal favour, confer upon it the King's Award for Enterprise: Innovation.”

The prize aims to reward both small and large businesses with an innovative product or service, and recognise their contribution to enterprise. Last year was the first time it was awarded by his majesty, King Charles.

The Nourished brand launched in 2019, and has already had to navigate a pandemic and high inflation.

In that time, however, the company has grown from four to almost 200 employees, developing and manufacturing 3D-printed products.

The business say they’ve created the first completely customisable nutritious ‘stack’ which ‘combines seven different active ingredients’.

Customers choose their favourite vitamins and supplements in an online consultation and at their factory in Birmingham, they will print the selection on-demand.

Award-winning female entrepreneur, Melissa Snover is the brains behind the business. She says being presented with the King’s Award was a proud moment.

Snover told GB News: “To be honoured with the King's Award for our business is really the highest honour that we could ever receive.

“We were really founded on the idea that innovation is going to be the single biggest factor in changing the world, and so you can imagine we're all overwhelmed with pride.”

The Nourished brand was one of only 10 winners in the West Midlands out of 262 rewarded in total. It was the only winner in the region in the Innovation category.

Away from running her business day-to-day, Snover plays an active role in ‘Buy Women Built’, a group which showcases and works with female-owned businesses.

She told GB News she’s passionate about the next generation of female entrepreneurs.

She said: “Less than 80 per cent of young people can name a female entrepreneur, and that is something that we're really committed to changing the narrative on at BWB.

“I think you can't be it if you can't see it, and so myself and the other women involved in that cause are really trying to raise the profile of female entrepreneurs and make sure that young people are seeing them at the beginning of their career, when they're starting to think about what they want to be.”
