James Bulger was two years old when he was kidnapped and murdered by Robert Thompson and Jon Venables in 1993

James Bulger's mother Denise has hit out at those telling her to move on, as she reflects on the murder of her son 30 years ago.

Speaking to GB News, Denise said she feels "numb", after one of James' killers, Jon Venables, was denied a parole bid on Wednesday.

Venables was given a life sentence alongside Robert Thompson in 1993 for the murder of two-year-old James, when they were both 10-years-old.

After being released with new identities in 2001, Venables was then sent back to prison in 2010, after indecent images of children were found on his computer. He was recalled again in 2017 for the same offence.

Reacting to the parole ruling, Justice Secretary Alex Chalk said: "James Bulger's barbaric murder was a crime that shocked the nation and I welcome the Parole Board's decision to keep his killer behind bars."

James' mother Denise told Eamonn Holmes that she now has "some kind of justice", following the ruling.

Denise revealed in her interview with GB News that what Venables and Thompson did to James was "pure evil".

She added: "Kids can learn through social media and stuff like that, but there was nothing like that back then. There was no mobile phones. And so just taking that out of the question, it's just pure evilness on their behalf."

When asked by Eamonn how "sick" she believes they were at the time, Denise admitted: "I can't call them sick because there are sick people out there who need doctors and nurses, they don't. They just, they don't deserve anyone's time.

"You know what they did, they took a baby's life and destroyed his family's lives in the the proceeds of it."

Eamonn then highlighted the argument of certain groups of people who say Venables and Thompson "were 10 years old at the time", and only "babies themselves".

Eamonn asked: "They say how can you keep going on punishing them?"

Denise responded: "One of them needs punishing because he's behind bars again. If Venables gets out, let's make him an example.

"If he gets out, these people who were saying, you know, it's been 30 years now, let it go. Why should I? One, he was my son, he's not here to speak for himself, so I'm doing it for him.

"And two, if Venables does get out, these people who are saying, you know, let it go. If he went and killed one of their kids, they will they be saying to me you should have fought harder."

Denise told Eamonn: "I know you've got another grandchild now, congratulations, by the way. I see pictures of you with your grandchildren. I can't do that."
