The warning comes as the US supports Israel in stopping Iranian strikes

Iran has warned the UK, US and France not to help Israel against Tehran's strikes on Israel.

Should they help, Iran has threatened that their bases and ships in the region will be targeted.

The news follows conflict in Israel and Iran escalating overnight, with multiple missile strikes being launched from both sides.

Iran said its strikes against Israel will continue, with targets set to expand to include US bases in the region in the coming days, local media reports, citing senior Iranian military officials.

"This confrontation will not end with last night's limited actions and Iran's strikes will continue, and this action will be very painful and regrettable for the aggressors," Iran's Fars news agency reported, from senior military officials.

A Downing Street spokeswoman confirmed yesterday evening that Sir Keir Starmer had spoken to US President Donald Trump this evening.

Starmer and Trump discussed the military action in the Iran-Israel conflict and agreed on the importance of diplomacy and dialogue.

The Prime Minister reiterated the UK's concerns about Iran's nuclear programmes.

French President Emmanuel Macron said yesterday that France would not take part in offensives on Iran, but would be involved in defending Israel should Iran attack.

Macron stated that France's support to Israel is unconditional, and he hopes diplomatic talks will resume.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

However, tensions continue to rise with Israel's Defence Minister, Israel Katz, warning Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that "Tehran will burn" if it keeps firing missiles at Israeli civilians.

Katz said: "The Iranian dictator is taking the citizens of Iran hostage, bringing about a reality in which they, and especially Tehran's residents, will pay a heavy price for the flagrant harm inflicted upon Israel's citizens.

"If Khamenei continues to fire missiles at the Israeli home front, Tehran will burn."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also vowed to attack Iran for "as long as necessary".

A US official confirmed the US military helped shoot down Iranian missiles heading to Israel yesterday evening.

Before the threat today, Iran's representative to the UN, Amir-Saeid Iravani, said: "This is not merely an attack on one country.

"This is a direct assault on the international order. An attack on the charter of the United Nations."

Tehran said the US shares "full responsibility" for the consequences of the attacks on Iran.
