Several dozen Extinction Rebellion activists have blocked the Rue de la Loi road in central Brussels as part of the European Day of Action for climate change.
Police were immediately on the spot and the street near European Institutions was cleared within a couple of hours.

Some of the activists attached themselves to street furniture or cars, while others laid down side by side, covering themselves with sheets and flowers. Tactics mirroring those used by Insulate Britain in the UK.
They chanted phrases like "climate change kills" and had a banner reading "I love my children, don't you? Structural solutions now!"
COP26 is seeking to raise enough commitment from world leaders to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. That would require the world to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Tens of thousands of protesters have also taken to the streets in the UK demanding stronger climate action from leaders in the midst of the Cop26 talks.

A fire engine, women covered in moss, Poseidon on stilts and a group of children guiding a display featuring what appeared to be a large snake wearing glasses, were among those who gathered at the starting point at Kelvingrove Park.
