There are some big name blockbusters

The UK Cinema industry is making a triumphant return. As hundreds of thousands of Brits flock to their nearest big screen, many of the huge studio giants are getting ready to release the next batch of blockbusters. So we wanted to give you a little preview of new releases that you can look forward to over the next month.

Dear Evan Hansen – Coming to cinemas September 24th

Some may recognise this title from the West End, that’s because it played to rave reviews from November 2019, winning 2 Laurence Olivier Awards. Universal are hoping the heart-warming coming of age story translates onto the big screen. The cast looks great too, it features heavyweights including Amy Adams, Julianne Moore but it also features Ben Platt. He originated the role on Broadway and is also known for his work in Pitch Perfect and Netflix’ The Politician.

No Time To Die – Coming to cinemas September 30th

The long awaited return of James Bond … one of the first major films to be affected by the Pandemic is FINALLY coming to British screens and we cannot wait! It’s possibly the longest goodbye Daniel Craig has ever had with a role, but in his last flick as the title character, he’ll be joined by returning 007 favourites such as Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Léa Seydoux and even Christoph Waltz - who will be reprising his role as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. But after all the rumours surrounding the film, it’s the new characters being played by Ana De Armas (Knives Out), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), and Rami Malek which I cannot wait to watch in particular!

The Harder They Fall – Coming to Netflix October 6th

Idris Elba and the Western genre, those are two things which are slightly unexpected, but it maybe the post lockdown tonic we never thought we needed! The film will receive it’s premiere at the London Film Festival next month, where Elba’s western debut will be accompanied by Oscar nominee Regina King, Emmy nominee Zazie Beetz and newcomer Jonathan Majors (who also recently made his Marvel Cinematic Universe Debut in Loki). Perhaps Idris will walk in Clint Eastwood’s footsteps?

The Last Duel – Coming to Cinemas October 15th

Adam Driver, the best friend pairing of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Liverpool’s very own Jodie Comer, all being directed by Ridley Scott (the same Ridley Scott whose behind Blade Runner, The Martian and All The Money in The World) in a medieval drama and I just cannot get enough. 20th Century Studios have THE perfect combination.

Dune – Coming to Cinemas October 21st

The cast list: Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem. There’s truly something for everyone in this ensemble cast. It looks Epic, it sounds Epic, it’s based off the 412 page epic. Do I need to say more? Well maybe that this film needs to be seen on a big screen .. and pronto!

The French Dispatch – Coming to Cinemas October 22nd

The genius behind the likes of ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’, ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ and the Oscar winning ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, comes a new tale (or three) which has been described as a ‘love letter to journalists’. The trailer already shows us that we can look forward to that signature Anderson style which includes symmetric cinematography, the beautiful melancholic style of acting, garish but charming colour palates and the pacey music by Alexandre Desplat, this film seems to have it all. Not to mention a huge but impressive ensemble cast which features long-running Wes Anderson collaborators including Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Saoirse Ronan, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and it’s even got Anjelica Huston as the narrator … what’s not to love?!?

Last Night in Soho – Coming to cinemas 29th October

From the director that brought you ‘Baby Driver’ and the screenwriter behind ‘1917’ comes a 1960’s psychological horror film. Which includes Golden globe winning Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) and Matt Smith. This also has the last on-screen film performance by Dame Diana Rigg in what is sure to be a must see.
