GB News is UK's fastest growing digital news platform

GBNews.com has now been the UK's fastest-growing news site for seven months running, according to SimilarWeb.

It comes just weeks after data showed the site had overtaken established digital media brands including Metro, the Evening Standard and The Times to become a UK Top 20 news website for the first time.

GB News only relaunched as a dotcom in March as part of its goal to be the number one news channel in the United Kingdom by 2028.

The new site features a world-class catch-up and video-on-demand service as well as the latest news, opinion, entertainment, sport, lifestyle and the best clips from the TV channel.

Chief Digital Officer Geoff Marsh said: "GBNews.com is growing astonishingly fast with more and more people choosing us as their top digital news destination.

"We continue to buck industry trends by growing against our establishment rivals, despite the odds.

"We're determined to connect to audiences with better stories, compelling video, unmissable pictures and a deeper understanding of what people really want.

"We don't cover the stories journalists want to read. We cover the stories people care about."

Separately, GB News has hit more than 1,000,000,000 views on YouTube, making the channel the fastest-growing British news provider ever on the world's top video platform.

It hit the milestone in record speed, achieving a billion views in just 2.5 years since its launch, an achievement that took ITV News, also on 1bn views, 17 years to reach.

GB News topped more than a million subscribers on YouTube last month, with the total now standing at 1.08m.

The channel broadcasts a live stream on YouTube which attracts millions of viewers a year. In addition, it makes all its programmes available for catch-up on YouTube, and posts thousands of short-form video highlights on the platform.

“This is a huge step towards our goal to be the number one UK news channel by 2028,” Mr Marsh said. “We’re proving there’s a real demand for our compelling content which audiences genuinely want to consume.”

GB News has huge plans for digital growth in 2024 and recently launched its GBN America stream of content, aimed directly at the US market where it is already proving hugely popular, both with British ex-pats and Americans.

This week it launched GBN Membership - a fun way for loyal TV viewers and website users to support the channel - and a brand new app, with a host of new features, is coming in early 2024.
