The changes come into effect from September 1

Ahead of the launch of our new US programme The Late Show Live, Britain’s number one news channel is announcing a series of updates to its daytime and weekend schedule.

From September, Bev Turner and Ben Leo will relocate to Washington DC to front The Late Show Live.

In preparation for this exciting stateside switch, GB News can today announce the following changes:

  • Alex Armstrong will launch a new weekend prime-time programme, Alex Armstrong Tonight, airing Saturdays and Sundays from August 30. He will also continue to present The Saturday Five.
  • Miriam Cates will join Andrew Pierce as co-anchor of Britain’s Newsroom from Monday to Thursday, with Alex stepping in as co-host on Fridays.
  • The new line-up begins September 1.
  • Emily Carver has stepped away from Good Afternoon Britain as she prepares for maternity leave. During her absence, Nana Akua will co-present alongside Tom Harwood on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, while Dawn Neesom will join Tom on Thursdays and Fridays. This updated line-up takes effect from September 4.

Ben Briscoe, Head of Programming at GB News, said: "These updates reflect the exceptional depth of talent at GB News.

"I’m delighted to see Miriam, Dawn, Nana and Alex take on these new roles, and we’re all wishing Emily the very best as she begins her maternity leave.

"Bev and Ben’s exciting move to Washington DC means our schedule will look different after the summer. But this brilliant new line-up will help ensure GB News remains Britain’s Number One news channel."
