The four teenage suspects remain in police custody

Four boys aged between 12 to 14 years old have been arrested on suspicion of rape, police in Rochdale have said.

The arrests were made after police were called to reports of a rape in Newbold, Rochdale, at around 6pm on Saturday.


The boys – a 12-year-old, 13-year-old and two 14-year-olds – remain in police custody.

The victim – a female child, a police spokesperson said – is currently being supported by specialist officers.

A crime scene remains in place as officers continue their investigation, a Greater Manchester Police statement said.

The cordoned-off area is in a car park between the Newbold Metrolink tram stop and the entrance to a Morrisons supermarket.

A forensic investigation, including a police dog team, was underway at the scene, according to the BBC.

Police have called for anyone with information that could help their enquiries to call 0161 856 8512, quoting log number 2601 of 10/02/2024.
