Man and woman charged after incident involving schoolgirl brandishing 'offensive weapons'

A man and woman have been charged in connection with an alleged incident which saw a young schoolgirl wielding "offensive weapons".
Police Scotland confirmed that after "extensive enquiries, a man and a woman have been charged in connection with an incident in St Ann Lane in Dundee, which was reported around 7.40pm" on Saturday, August 23.
When approached by GB News, Police Scotland did not confirm the exact charges against the man and woman.
The schoolgirl is said to have been in possession of the weapons in a street in the Lochee area of Dundee, with footage of the alleged incident circulated online.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said the "circumstances will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal".
"Members of the public are again urged not to share misinformation about this incident or speculate on the circumstances," the spokeswoman added.
The girl "will be referred to the Scottish Children's Reporter Administration and the Procurator Fiscal".
Chief Superintendent Nicola Russell said police were "aware of misinformation being shared on social media in relation" to the incident "where a Bulgarian couple were approached by youths in St Ann Lane, Dundee".

"A 12-year-old girl has been charged with being in possession of offensive weapons," she said.
"She will be referred to the relevant authorities and our enquiries are ongoing.
"We would like to thank the local community for their help with our investigation."
Ms Russell echoed Scotland Police's call for the public not to share misinformation or speculate about the circumstances.
Scotland's First Minister John Swinney echoed calls for users to stop spreading misinformation around the matter after the video was shared by Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson.
He alleged that Mr Musk was trying to "undermine" the social "cohesion" in Scotland by spreading "deliberate disinformation" which he described as "totally and utterly unacceptable".
