A woman in her 20s has been taken to hospital

Police have launched an urgent investigation after a young woman was taken to hospital following an alleged rape in Canary Wharf.

Emergency services were called to reports of a sexual assault on Hertsmere Road, east London at 4.25am on Saturday, August 23.


A woman, who is in her 20s, was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, and is understood to be being supported by specialist officers.

No arrests have been made so far, as the Met Police urges anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "We are investigating an alleged rape which took place on Hertsmere Road, Canary Wharf.

"Officers were called at 4.25am on Saturday, August 23 and attended alongside the London Ambulance Service.

"A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital and is being supported by specially trained officers.

"At this time, no arrests have been made, but officers continue to make urgent enquiries."

The force has asked anyone with information in the vicinity to contact them by calling 101 or online, quoting CAD1371/23AUG.
