Staff at a petrol station in Bristol have been forced to hide in a safe room after it was stormed by a man armed with a knife.

A man has been arrested after staff at a petrol station in Bristol were forced to hide in a safe room, police said, and one person has been taken to hospital.


There was a large police presence at the petrol station.

Around half a dozen loud noises – sounding like fireworks – could be heard before a man was led away in handcuffs by police.

The force said: “Police are at the scene of an incident which has led to the closure of Hengrove Way, Bristol, today, Thursday 9 September.
