Art consultant and curator Manick Govinda says the arts and cultural sector has a free speech problem, telling The Great British Breakfast that a "witch hunt culture, in particular on social media platforms" can destroy someone's career.
He said he had observed a number of artists "who have been vilified" because of a new generation of creative people who act like "a kind of thought police", adding that "art should be a healthy, open space for creative as well as intellectual conversations."
This follows news that artist Jess de Wahls reportedly had her work removed by the Royal Academy after trans activists protested about a blog post where she criticised LGBT charity Stonewall and called a woman 'an adult human female'.
