Marks & Spencer confirms 12 new store openings in win for customers - list of locations

With the sites covering up to 20k Sq ft of retail space, some of the new stores are set to be among the largest Marks & Spencer standalone Food stores in Britain.

Out of the 12 new stores, eight of them are set to be open by July 2026, with the first ones opening in Abingdon and Cannock later this year.

This latest move from Marks & Spencer is projected to create more than 550 jobs across the dozen locations, which will be converted Homebase sites.

According the company, the new stores will have features such as coffee counters, in-store bakeries, and expanded frozen sections, as well as Click & Collect counters for online shoppers.

Stuart Machin, the chief executive officer of Marks & Spencer, outlined his vision for the major retailer's latest expansion agenda.

He said: "Investing in new and renewed stores is one of our key transformation priorities. Securing these highly desirable sites in priority locations will accelerate this strategy, drive further growth in our M&S food business and most importantly give our customers the best possible M&S shopping experience."

In 2024, Marks & Spencer launched six Food stores and two full line stores, as well as rented nine of their existing store which resulted in food sale surpassing targets by 20 per cent.

Last November, Homebase went into administration after more than four decades of operating.

CDS Superstores, the parent company The Range, acquired around 70 former Homebase stores, with others sites being taken over by companies including B&Q, Wickes, and Marks & Spencer.
