Nearly 30,000 failed asylum seekers, foreign criminals and other immigration offenders have been returned since the election to countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.
The new figures published today mark a 12 per cent increase in returns compared to the same period a year ago.
The rise in removals also includes a 23 per cent increase in enforced returns and a 14 per cent increase in foreign national offenders’ removals since July last year.
It also includes the four biggest returns charter flights in the UK’s history, with a total of more than 850 people on board.
This comes as more than 800 migrants crossed the English Channel yesterday, breaking the record for the most crossings so far this year.
The previous record was 705 on April 15, but yesterday saw 828 migrants make the crossing.
