GB News membership readers have been asked whether they think that Sir Keir Starmer was 'point scoring' when he slammed Rishi Sunak for a trans joke he made during Prime Minister's Questions

Rishi Sunak criticised Sir Keir Starmer for U-turning on "defining a woman", during Wednesday's Prime Minister's Questions.

The PM joked: "Although in fairness, that was only 99 per cent of a U-turn."

A furious Starmer slammed the Tory leader for his comments, pointing out that Brianna Ghey's mother was present in the House of Commons public gallery.

Brianna Ghey's mother Esther attended PMQs yesterday, a year on from the brutal murder of her daughter.

The Labour leader said: "Of all the weeks to say that, when Brianna [Ghey]'s mother is in this chamber. Shame. Parading as a man of integrity, when he's got absolutely no responsibility."

In an exclusive poll for GB News membership readers, an overwhelming majority (89 per cent) of the 678 polled, said they did think Keir Starmer was 'point scoring' for his attack on Rishi, while just 11 per cent disagreed.

After MPs on the Labour benches shouted "shameful", the Speaker of the House, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, was forced to intervene.

He said: "Either side. I think the member's getting carried away. Can I just say that our constituents want to hear the questions and they certainly want to hear the answers.

"They don't want to hear organised barracking. So please, I want no more."

The PM refused to apologise following the incident, despite many calling for him to.

No 10 said it was "legitimate" to question Starmer's position.

Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch has claimed that Starmer is "weaponising" trans issues and linking “his own inability to be clear on the matter of sex and gender directly” to Brianna’s mother’s grief.

Taking to social media, the Saffron Walden MP wrote: "Every murder is a tragedy. None should be trivialised by political point-scoring.

"As a mother, I can imagine the trauma that Esther Ghey has endured. It was shameful of Starmer to link his own inability to be clear on the matter of sex and gender directly to her grief.

"As Minister for Women and Equalities I've done all I can to ensure we have take the heat out of the debate on LGBT issues while being clear about our beliefs and principles.

"Keir Starmer’s behaviour today shows Labour are happy to weaponise this issue when it suits them."
