Two recent polls from Statista have suggested that Britons believe the UK was wrong to leave the European Union and that it should rejoin the bloc.
One of the polls which covered the period from January 2020 to December 2023 asked: "In hindsight, do you think Britain was right or wrong to vote to leave the European Union?"
Those polled had three options: "Right to leave. Wrong to leave. Don't know."
In January 2020, the results were very close, with 47 per cent saying Britain was wrong to leave, whereas 40 per cent of those polled said Britain was right, and 13 per cent were unsure.

April 2021 saw the first and only time that the majority of those polled thought the country was right to leave the EU, with 46 per cent, compared to 43 per cent that thought it was wrong.
From that moment on however, the gap started to increase in favour of the wrong vote, with December 2023 seeing the largest margin, with 54 per cent thinking it was wrong to leave compared to 33 per cent thinking it was right.
A second poll also on Statista this time asked: "Overall, which of the following do you think the UK should try to do when it comes to our future trading relationship with the European Union?"
There were six options listed: "Join the European Union."
"Join the single market but not the European Union."
"Increase trading relationship with the EU but without joining the single market."
"Keep our relationship with the EU as it is now."
"Reduce ties between the UK and EU."
"None of these."

Joining the EU was the preferred option, with 31 per cent of the vote.
30 per cent of people polled thought we should increase our relationship with the EU, but without joining the single market, while 11 per cent thought we should join the single market but not the EU.
10 per cent thought we should keep our relationship with the EU as it is now, while nine per cent thought we should reduce ties.
10 per cent were indecisive and opted for the "none of these" option.

In both polls the options that received the most votes were for Britain to rejoin the EU and that Britain was wrong to leave in the first place.
With that in mind, GB News conducted its own poll asking its membership readers their thoughts on Britain potentially rejoining the EU.
In stark contrast to the two Statista polls, GB news membership readers voted against the idea of Britain rejoining the EU, with 66 per cent, whereas 33 per cent voted in favour of rejoining.
