The UK’s largest supermarket sends out Clubcard vouchers every three months

Tesco Clubcard holders have been given a 28-hour warning before they could lose up to £15million in vouchers.

Vouchers which will soon expire were first issued in May 2021.

They will become worthless after May 31.

The UK’s largest supermarket provided an update on May 11 about how £15million worth of Clubcard vouchers will soon expire.

Tesco Loyalty Director, Tash Whitmey, said: “We want to help customers’ household budgets stretch further right now and Clubcard is the best way to get great value with Tesco – from Clubcard Rewards to thousands of exclusive deals through Clubcard Prices, which could potentially save shoppers up to £351 a year.

“And with more than £15million worth of Clubcard vouchers due to expire at the end of May, we’re reminding customers to spend them to help with the shopping budget.”

Tesco shoppers on the loyalty scheme accrue Clubcard points during every shop either at the supermarket’s stores or online.

One point is accumulated for every £1 spent on groceries.

Points can also be collected via Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile.

One point is also gained for every £2 spent on fuel.

However, after June 14, the reward will be lowered to one point for every two litres of fuel.

You need a minimum of 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher, which will be worth £1.50 to spend in Tesco.

It is possible to triple the value of Clubcard points up until June 14 if customers do not want to spend vouchers at Tesco stores.

The UK’s largest supermarket will then change its rules to double the rate when customers spend with a so-called “Rewards Partner”.

Thorpe Park, Pizza Express and the RAC are included as examples of companies which accept the vouchers.

It is possible to extend the expiry date of the coupons by turning them into Faster Vouchers.

The change will help them last for 21 months beyond the usual two-year expiry date after the point at which they are converted.
