The supplement industry continues to thrive, bolstered by celebrity endorsements making various claims about health benefits.
But when it comes to skin care, only a few supplements may be particularly effective at maintaining skin firmness.
In a conversation with neuroscientist Robert Love, pharmacist Ben Fuchs endorsed three specific types for their skin benefits, promising firmer and younger-looking skin.
"Vitamin C is by far the Babe Ruth of vitamins, I call it," the skin care enthusiast shared.
Ben says the vitamins help keep the skin youthful
Ben Fuchs
"Vitamin C is important for the production of connective tissue; it keeps your skin firm and taught, it helps your skin absorb moisture, and of course, prevents wrinkles."
He emphasised that vitamins play a crucial role in activating fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen.
Ben identified Vitamin A as his second recommended supplement for skin health.
"Vitamin A also helps skin cells divide at just the right rate," he shared.
"When the skin cells don't divide at just the right rate, you can get acne, you can get psoriasis, you can get eczema, and you can get defects that can lead to dry skin and other issues," he explained.
Proper cell division is essential for maintaining healthy skin and preventing various skin conditions.
Completing the third recommendation, Fuchs highlighted silica gel as his final essential supplement for skin health.
"Number 3 is silica gel, especially liquid silica gel. Silica is a precipitating agent around which connective tissue forms.
"Silica gel is not only great for keeping your skin youthful, it's also great for keeping your hair healthy and your nails," he stated.

This versatile supplement appears to offer benefits beyond just skin, supporting overall appearance.
Vitamin C is widely regarded as a skincare game-changer because it combats free radicals, which are known to accelerate signs of ageing.
For those looking to increase their vitamin C intake naturally, several common foods are excellent sources.
These include citrus fruits, strawberries and vegetables such as spinach, green peppers and red peppers.
Incorporating these foods into one's diet may help support skin health alongside supplementation.
