Many people dream of having thick, luscious hair, but it can often seem unattainable.
However, with the right practices and using the correct products, individuals can encourage "healthy hair growth".
Trichologist at The Spencer Clinic Samantha Stewart spoke exclusively to GB News about how people can support hair growth.
The expert said: "Creating a solid foundation in your hair care routine is essential to support healthy hair growth. This foundation should include a core group of products that support both scalp health and the integrity of the hair strands."
Samantha discussed the importance of looking after your scalp
GETTYWhen picking out products for your hair, "it is important to consider the specific needs of your hair and scalp" and how you wash your locks.
Samantha said: "While many people invest in quality products, the washing technique is often overlooked, and it plays a critical role in hair and scalp health.
"Most people focus more on washing their hair and neglect their scalp, which can lead to buildup, irritation, and inflammation."
The trichologist recommended focusing on your scalp and "using the pads of your fingertips to cleanse gently".
She added: "After cleansing the scalp, work the shampoo to the ends of your hair without excessive scrubbing or tangling. Follow up with a treatment conditioner to replenish moisture and help detangle the hair gently."
Pick a shampoo with a formulation that "supports hydration and scalp health" and a treatment conditioner that "helps restore moisture and elasticity".
The expert also recommended a leave-in conditioner, which plays a "vital part in any wash day routine".
Samantha explained: "It helps lock in moisture and provides a protective barrier against environmental stressors, keeping your hair soft and manageable throughout the day."
