While Britain faces widespread water restrictions across swathes of the nation, it might be more challenging to think of gardening jobs to keep you busy this week.
Following the most arid spring since 1893, the current restrictions prohibit households from employing hosepipes for garden irrigation, vehicle washing, or cleaning external areas.
However, DIY specialist Jimmy Englezos has identified several garden maintenance activities that are allowed under the current water-use limitations.
The expert's guidance arrives as multiple water companies prepare to implement restrictions, with Southern Water and Thames Water announcing measures beginning this week.

First off, Jimmy warned against exterior painting during excessive temperatures, saying: "Applying paint to exterior surfaces during extreme heat can result in the paint drying too quickly and falling off, so don't be fooled by all warm weather being perfect for garden tasks."
He recommended prioritising preparatory work instead, such as clearing items stored beside sheds or fences, detaching fixtures, and relocating deck furniture.
"Focus on removing climbing plants and weeds growing up, alongside, or even through your wooden garden fixtures and use a rough garden brush to get rid of loose dirt, mould and other debris," the expert advised.

The DIY specialist also recommended maintaining flowering plants through deadheading, "which encourages new blooms and keeps your plants looking neat and healthy".
For those seeking vertical garden features, Jimmy suggested constructing trellis systems, which require treating the wood with a protective coating before mounting on walls or fences using battens to create adequate spacing.
Regarding outdoor furniture maintenance, he advocated manual cleaning with minimal water. "A bucket of warm, soapy water should do the trick on plastic or cast-iron furniture," he noted.
Bicarbonate of soda mixed with vinegar as an effective homemade cleaning solution for timber pieces, he further recommended.

As it stands, Southern Water will enforce restrictions from 9am tomorrow across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, though West Sussex, East Sussex and Kent remain unaffected.
Medical patients, mobility-impaired residents, Blue Badge holders and WaterSure tariff customers receive exemptions, though the company encourages voluntary conservation.
Thames Water's measures begin on Tuesday for specific postcodes including OX, GL, SN, RG4, RG8 and RG9, covering Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, most of Wiltshire and portions of Berkshire.
Yorkshire implemented restrictions on July 11 throughout the county, whilst South East Water began enforcement on Friday for Kent and Sussex residents. No end dates have been announced as of yet.
