Nutella Plant-Based will be available from Sunday, May 25

Nutella fans across Britain can soon enjoy a plant-based version of the beloved hazelnut spread.

Ferrero has announced the UK launch of Nutella Plant-Based, which will be available in Sainsbury's nationwide in a matter of days.

The "new" and "vegan-certified" spread promises to deliver "the same flavour and creaminess fans know and love" whilst incorporating ingredients such as chickpeas and rice syrup.

While original Nutella will still be available, its plant-based counterpart will ensure even more chocoholics can enjoy the iconic nutty spread.

It will initially be sold in 350g jars in the main spread aisle alongside the original Nutella.

According to Ferrero, the confectionery company that manufactures Nutella, the new spread "delivers all the joy of the original Nutella spread without compromising on taste".

The timing of the launch aligns with growing consumer interest in plant-based eating across the UK.

According to recent research cited by Ferrero, 4.7 per cent of UK adults - approximately 2.5 million people - now follow a vegan diet.

Meanwhile, a further 5.8 per cent identify as vegetarian, while 13 per cent choose a flexitarian lifestyle.

The launch demonstrates the brand's continued innovation after more than 60 years in the market.

While a plant-based Nutella spread is already available in select European countries, its Sainsbury's launch will be a UK first.

"With more than a quarter of adults planning to make plant-based eating part of their routine by the end of 2025, Nutella Plant-Based couldn't have arrived at a better time," Ferrero stated.

Nutella Plant-Based will hit Sainsbury's shelves on Sunday, May 25, meaning vegan fans can snap it up in a matter of days.

After the initial rollout this spring, the chocolate concoction will be widely distributed in 2026 across UK supermarkets.
