Coming in all shapes and sizes, Marks & Spencer is known for its expansive bakery section, and the supermarket has now taken their critical acclaim one step further - by dialling back on the number of ingredients in its toasting loaves.

Its "Only… Ingredients" range seeks to tone down the number of ultra-processed ingredients in baked goods, using only six ingredients or fewer.

Fans are sure to be pleased that stores are now stocking two brand-new toasting loaves: a White Sliced Toasting Loaf made up of only four ingredients - multi-flour, water, salt and yeast.

Meanwhile, the second Sunflower Seed and Spelt Sliced Toasting Loaf is composed of only six ingredients: multi-flour, water, sunflower seeds, spelt, salt and yeast.

Taking to Instagram to share the good news, the store said: "Perfect for making cheese toasties, or toasted and topped with our Collection French Butter with Sea Salt Crystals - 10/10 if you ask us!"

The baked good are available in your local M&S Foodhall or on @ocadouk.

Shoppers have expressed their feverish excitement online, with one star-struck bread lover simply saying that it was "loaf at first sight".

Another said the two new additions sounded "delicious" and said that they would "go on the hunt tomorrow" to see if they could get their hands on the toasting treats.

A third commented: "Toast heaven! That sunflower seed and spelt loaf is calling my name... Anyone else suddenly fancy a cheese toastie right now?"

Meanwhile other shoppers expressed relief at the mere existence of the wrapper, saying: "Nice to see good bread wrapped, untouched by multiple hands, and not sneezed on!"

As intended, the loaves offer a stripped-back version of other equivalent toasting loaves that shoppers might often come across in standard supermarkets, which has not gone unnoticed by its fans.

While one celebrated that they were "not full of palm oil like other bread", another raved: "Hooray, free from calcium propionate! At last we are getting back to just the basics ingredients in foods and stepping away from the chemical additives that can disrupt and damage the human body."

Offering glowing praise, one said: "Minimal ingredients in bread is a huge win. The Sunflower Seed & Spelt Sliced Toasting Loaf sounds absolutely delicious. M&S always delivers."

Another praised the lack of ultra-processed ingredients, without "all the extras that usually go into breads".

Marks & Spencer has been slowly expanding its range as it's gained popularity. Most recently, it added a new Oat Drink made with just three ingredients: water, oats and a hint of salt.
