"Do not consume, package up [the] item and return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.

"Contact: Waitrose Customer Care 0800 188 884, Option 4. We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused."

Shoppers should not eat produce from packs with the above details and they should return to stores for a full refund.

This comes as Marks & Spencer pulled pies from shelves as they could pose a risk of vomiting and breathing difficulties.

M&S Plant Kitchen Mushroom Pies contain soya that is not mentioned on the label, which is dangerous for anyone with an allergy.

Shoppers should look out for packs that are 200 grams with the use by dates of April 12, 16, 18 and 22.

The supermarket stated: "Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the products of our foods extremely seriously.
