Aldi has revealed the latest change it has made to packaging
Discount supermarket chain Aldi has introduced recycled plastic to its own-label crisp packaging.
This is the latest packaging update by the chain and comes as a supermarket first.
It will incorporate a minimum of 35 per cent recycled content in its own brand Specially Selected Hand Cooked range.
This change is set to roll out on Aldi's own popcorn and lentil chips towards the end of this year.

The move will help the supermarket remove 78 tonnes of virgin plastic from use annually, the retailer has estimated.
It comes as part of the chain's target to include 50 per cent recycled content in its plastic packaging by 2025.
Plastics and packaging director at Aldi Luke Emery said: “At Aldi, we are continuously making changes when it comes to reducing plastic waste, and we know how important this is to our customers too.
“Increasing the recycled content in our crisp packaging is just one way we are helping our customers to reduce their environmental impact, with all these little changes adding up to make an even bigger difference.”
This follows a change Aldi has made to the packaging on washing up liquid, to make it more sustainable.
It will now use 100 per cent recycled plastic in some of its own-brand washing up liquid bottles, including standard Magnum washing-up liquid and its Antibacterial and one litre Magnum Classic packs.
The recycled material will be incorporated into these products, excluding the caps and labels, and the update can be found in stores across the UK.
Luke Emery added: “At Aldi, we know that our customers are becoming increasingly concerned about the environment, and cutting back on plastic usage is just as important to them as it is to us.
"While the challenge of plastic packaging is significant across the industry, we are committed to minimising our impact wherever we can.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
"Transitioning to recycled materials in our washing up liquid range and lowering the weight of our fabric conditioners are just two examples of our ongoing efforts to do so.”
In other Aldi news, it has announced new poke bowls will be available to buy from tomorrow for £3.69.
The supermarket stated: "Shoppers can pick up the taste of Tokyo for under £4 with Aldi's new Poke Bowls. Aldi shoppers will be soy excited to hear that the supermarket is welcoming the ultimate Japanese-inspired lunch dish to its aisles this summer.
"Launching from June 19, the brand-new Poke Bowls (£3.69, 300g) will be available in two irresistible flavours."
