A slimmer recommends eating out of smaller plates to control portion sizes
Weight loss feels like an uphill struggle for individuals who have to deal with incessant thoughts about food.
Fortunately, the brain can sometimes be tricked into eating less without practising restraint.
Eunice, a weight loss enthusiast who offers lifestyle tips on TikTok, claims she dropped from 60kg (around 9st 5lb) to 48kg (around 7st 7lb) “really fast” by swapping out her plates.
In a video summarising her weight loss journey, she claimed that eating out of smaller plates and bowls reduced her food intake.

“I switched from eating from [big] size [plates] to [small] size plates,” she told her followers. “Smaller plates create an illusion of bigger portions.
“This makes you feel fuller with smaller amounts of food,” added Eunice, labelling the hack a “super simple” way to get you started.
This trick is based on the idea that our perception is always relative to something else in the environment. In other words, the size of a plate will serve as a cue for what is on it.
The Mayo Clinic explained: “Research has shown that people almost always eat more food when offered large portions.
“So portion control is important when you’re trying to lose weight and keep it off. A portion is the amount of food you put on your plate. A serving is an exact amount of food.”
The slimmer also recommends buying a full-size mirror to help track your physical progress.
Making these small investments can encourage slimmers to keep going when their journey becomes challenging.
Other helpful methods that discourage people from overeating include limiting accessibility to food.
Keeping the food you don’t want to eat outside of your house will change the way you think about it.

Of course, maintaining a healthy weight isn’t just about the quantity of your food intake but the quality too.
As a rule of thumb, a healthy diet favours natural unprocessed foods over pre-packaged meals and snacks.
It should be balanced and incorporate all of the nutrients and minerals the body needs to function optimally.
Emphasis on plant-based foods is generally recommended over animal foods when embarking on a weight loss journey.
Abstinence from foods high in salt and sugar is equally recommended, although eating healthy fats from fish, olive oil and other plant-derived oils is encouraged.
