Motorists could face hours-long delays and road closures on a major motorway in Yorkshire following a "serious collision".
The M1 is closed in both directions between J36 (Hoyland) and J37 (Barnsley), with South Yorkshire Police and other emergency services in attendance.
National Highways Traffic Officers are on the scene and assisting with traffic management as drivers wait in long delays.
The traffic organisation warned that strategic diversion routes are in operation, with traffic conditions not expected to return to normal until around 1pm.

Traffic maps show miles of non-moving traffic following the closure approaching Junction 38, with current delays of 20 minutes.
National Highways advised drivers to allow extra time for their journey if the closure impacts their route.
They suggested that drivers could even re-route or delay their journey by planning ahead and checking traffic maps.
Updating motorists on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, National Highways: Yorkshire announced two strategic diversions to help ease traffic conditions.
Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the hollow triangle on road signs:
- Leave the M1 at J37 and at the roundabout take the third exit onto the A628
- Follow the A628 for five miles to the roundabout with the A629 and take the first exit onto the A629
- Continue for around six miles to the junction with the A616 and turn left onto the A616
- Follow the A616 back to the M1 southbound J35A and take the first exit to rejoin the M1 southbound
Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the solid square symbol on road signs:
- Leave the M1 at J36 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A61
- Follow the A61 for approximately one mile until the junction with the A616 and at the roundabout, take the third exit onto the A616
- Continue on the A616 for three miles to the junction with the A629. At the junction, turn left onto the loop road and then turn left again onto the A629
- Follow the A629 for around six miles to the junction with the A628 and at the roundabout take the third exit onto the A628
- Continue on the A628 for roughly five miles back to the M1 J37 and at the roundabout take the first exit onto the M1 northbound
