Citroen has become the first automotive brand to get the green light from the Government to slash the price of its vehicles as part of Labour's new Electric Car Grant.
Labour announced the £650million incentive scheme in July, with manufacturers able to apply for the grants worth up to £3,750 if the vehicles cost less than £37,000. Citroen is now offering a £1,500 discount on four of its models after meeting strict environmental targets set out by the Government.
The brand's cheapest electric vehicle now starts from just £20,595, with Citroen selling six electric cars under £36,000. The Electric Car Grant price can also be used in conjunction with the existing zero per cent Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) offer.
Citroen has received the Level 2 £1,500 support as all vehicles are assembled in Europe. Greg Taylor, managing director of Citroen UK, said: "At Citroen, we want everyone to have the opportunity to make the switch to an electric car. We welcome the support of the Electric Car Grant and are delighted to be the first to have vehicles in our electric range."
