Labour has finally announced the first round of vehicles that are eligible for the largest incentive of the Electric Car Grant, in addition to discounts for other popular zero emission models.
The Ford Puma Gen-E and Ford e-Tourneo Courier are the first two vehicles included in the £3,750 tier under the Government's £650million Electric Car Grant.
Ford is the first beneficiary of the full £3,750 amount, with all other eligible electric vehicles included in Labour's Electric Car Grant so far receiving the lesser £1,500 discount.
Four other models have also been included in the incentive scheme today to help more motorists get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle. These include the Peugeot e-308, Peugeot e-408, DS DS3 and DS Nº4.

At present, the Puma Gen-E, which is the electric equivalent of the most popular vehicle on the market, costs £28,495, although this could be lowered to an affordable £24,745.
The Gen-E comes equipped with an impressive range of up to 233 miles, in addition to a motorway range of up to 172 miles.
In addition to rapid charging capabilities, which can take the Puma from 10 to 80 per cent in just over 23 minutes, owners will also benefit from access to the BlueOval Charge Network.
This allows motorists to use more than 600,000 electric vehicle charging stations across 36 countries, including 24 across Europe.

The E-Tourneo Courier will fall to a price of just £28,440, with drivers receiving the multi-purpose vehicle equipped with 177 miles of range and a staggering 2,162 litres of luggage space.
Lisa Brankin, Ford UK chair and managing director, said the American brand welcomed the Government's decision to include the Puma Gen-E and e-Tourneo Courier in the EV grant.
She added that motorists would now have the chance to transition away from petrol and diesel vehicles and towards more environmentally friendly vehicles, in addition to recognising Ford's "commitment to sustainability".
It comes as recent Auto Trader data shows that the Electric Car Grant has contributed to a huge 80 per cent jump in interest for eligible models.
