The Stellantis-managed brand said it aimed to be the 'best value EV brand in the UK'

A Chinese electric car manufacturer has launched an unconventional pop-up showroom in central London that aims to get drivers to "take the leap" to electric vehicles.

Leapmotor opened the temporary facility at Coram's Fields, London, today, offering visitors complimentary bungee jumps from a 50-metre crane while they explore the brand's electric vehicle range.

The showroom operates from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday, June 25, with 100 free jumps available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visitors can inspect Leapmotor's current UK lineup while waiting for their turn to plunge from the crane platform.

The Chinese manufacturer, which entered the UK market earlier this year through a partnership with automotive giant Stellantis, designed the experience to encourage hesitant motorists to "take a leap" into electric vehicle ownership.

Thrill-seekers brave enough to take the plunge will enjoy panoramic views of the capital's skyline before their jump, including The Shard, the London Eye and the BT Tower.

Leapmotor hopes the experience will demonstrate that going headfirst into unfamiliar territory can be rewarding.

The pop-up facility showcases two models: the T03, a compact city car, and the C10, a family-oriented SUV.

The T03 city car offers finance options from £199 monthly over four years with a £199 deposit and zero per cent APR.

Despite starting at just £15,995, the vehicle provides interior space and includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 autonomous driving features.

The larger C10 SUV includes premium features typically found in higher price brackets, such as electrically powered heated and cooled front seats, 20-inch wheels, and a 12-speaker audio system.

Finance packages start with a 1.5 per cent APR and £1,002 deposit contribution, or £36,500 outright.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Damien Dally, Managing Director of Leapmotor UK, explained the rationale behind the unconventional approach: "Leapmotor is on a mission to be the best value EV brand in the UK and make electric driving accessible to everyone."

He acknowledged that many drivers remain apprehensive about transitioning to electric vehicles.

Dally added: "It's clear many drivers are still nervous about making the switch to electric, but we believe our offering, highly specified, affordable electric cars jammed-packed with technology, are the perfect first step into electric."

He said the pop-up showroom and the offer of a free bungee jump will help motorists "take a leap out of your comfort zone".

The managing director continued: "For some, the idea of switching to electric can feel the same way at first, but unlike a bungee jump, there's nothing scary about going electric."

Leapmotor's UK operations began in early 2025 through a joint venture with Stellantis, which holds a 51 per cent stake in the partnership.

The Chinese brand has rapidly expanded its UK presence, operating 46 dealerships nationwide with plans to reach 70 locations by year's end.

In March, Leapmotor broke records in China by selling more than 37,000 cars, with 12,000 of these being the flagship C10 SUV. The C10 has sold over 100,000 units since it was launched.
