Drivers will not need to pay for any repairs to their vehicles as part of the recall

Owners of 28 popular vehicle models are being urged to act after one of the largest car brands issued an urgent warning about a fire risk.

Stellantis has issued a recall notice for 72,000 vehicles amid concerns that loosened nuts on a fuel pipe could cause an engine fire.

As part of the recall, 28 models built between 2023 and 2025 fitted with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine are believed to be affected.

Stellantis confirmed that it was in the process of contacting vehicle owners, with models from Alfa Romeo, Citroen, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Peugeot and Vauxhall at risk.

The automotive giant is calling on drivers impacted by the recall to contact the dealer network to schedule an appointment to fix the issue.

This will involve retightening the nut connections on the high-pressure pipe and the screws of the rail.

It is estimated that this will take around half an hour, with Stellantis covering the cost of the remedy.

A Stellantis spokesperson said: "Some 2023-2025 Peugeot, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Vauxhall, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Fiat vehicles may face fuel leakage at the high-pressure pipe between the high-pressure pump and the rail due to loosened nuts.

"This can potentially lead to higher fuel leakage consumption and, in a worst-case scenario, to occurrences of fire in the engine."

Owners of impacted vehicles can contact their local dealer through the Stellantis website or by phone.
