The new feature seeks to raise awareness of the transitional phase in every woman's life

A major women's health application has unveiled a comprehensive new service designed to support those experiencing perimenopause.

The brand-new feature comes after research by Flo Health revealed that 54 per cent of women lack sufficient information about this transitional phase.

The feature, called 'Flo for Perimenopause', will be integrated into the existing platform 'Flo', used by more than 420 million individuals globally.

The development addresses a significant healthcare gap, as research indicates that by 2025, over one billion women internationally will have experienced perimenopause and menopause.

The new feature offers scientifically backed educational materials

The new offering combines scientifically-backed educational materials with personalised support, developed alongside a medical team comprising over 100 specialists.

The innovative assessment system includes a scientifically validated Perimenopause Score, marking the first digital evaluation tool specifically created for tracking perimenopausal symptoms and their real-world effects.

Women using the service can monitor various symptoms, including hot flushes, emotional fluctuations, exhaustion, and sleep disruptions.

The platform provides flexible period predictions rather than fixed dates, helping users understand their changing bodily patterns.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Daily medically-approved guidance tailored to individual symptoms will be available, alongside clearly presented transitional milestones.

The system analyses logged symptoms to identify patterns and offers evidence-based management strategies.

Additional features include anonymous discussion forums called Secret Chats, enabling private conversations amongst users experiencing similar challenges.

Certified gynaecologist specialising in menopause, Dr Sameena Rahman, emphasised that perimenopause deserves proper understanding and support.

"A tool like Flo for Perimenopause could be truly transformative for the many women I see who arrive confused, overwhelmed, and unaware of what their bodies are going through," she shared.

The service will become accessible to all users from July 21, available through both Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store.
