While Britons are slapped with high temperatures in the scorching sun, plenty are starting to experience sleepless nights as the humidity plagues the evenings.
Thankfully, a doctor has shared a bedtime beverage that is scientifically-proven to support better sleep, even dubbing it a "natural sedative".
Dr Eric Berg DC recommended adding in a bedtime drink before letting your head hit the pillow - which can also assist in detoxing your liver as well as supporting digestion and diminishing inflammation.
Historically more valuable than gold, cloves are a unique yet powerful spice to simmer with some water to create a powerful sleeping potion to aid and abet your quest for a good night's sleep.
Cloves have been found to have anti-inflammatory properties

Dr Berg said: "What would happen if you drink clove water every night before you went to bed? Clove is loaded with something called eugenol, which can act as a natural sedative to help you drift off into a wonderful sleep.
"Clove also helps you decrease the cravings that you might get late at night, improving your liver detoxification and digestion while you're sleeping.
"Clove is an anti-inflammatory so you wake up less stiff and can help improve your immune system."

Kaytee Hadley, a registered functional medicine dietitian, backed up the doctor's claim, saying: "One study in mice found that clove essential oil helped them fall asleep faster.
"We [also] know that the spice is a powerful natural painkiller, so if you find yourself tossing and turning at night because of aches and pains, cloves just might do the trick."
Easily accessible at any local supermarket, cloves are quite often a staple of a well-stocked spice cabinet, purchasable for around £1.
