The GB News star has landed in Australia ahead of his I'm A Celeb stint

Nigel Farage has managed to get under the skin of a number of leftie-luvvie celebs after being officially unveiled as one of this year's I'm A Celebrity campmates.

After months of speculation, Farage landed Down Under earlier this week ahead of the ITV show's premiere on Sunday evening.

He'll be joined by nine other famous faces when he sets foot in the camp for the first time, including This Morning's Josie Gibson, First Dates' Fred Siriex and JLS singer Marvin Humes.

The line-up for 2023 is completed by Jamie Lynn Spears, Sam Thompson, Nella Rose, Grace Dent, Danielle Harold and Nick Pickard.

Farage - who's openly admitted he's aware of the "frosty" reception he may receive - has already been backed for glory by GB News presenters Eamonn Holmes and Dawn Neesom.

However, there are a handful of famous faces who've tried to stir up their fans into boycotting the series given Farage's inclusion.

One example is comedian Kathy Burke who took to X, formerly Twitter, following Suella Braverman's sacking on Monday to issue a petulant jibe at ITV and Farage.

She penned on the social media platform: "Quick, @itv there’s another hate baiting **** available."

Actor London Hughes also took issue with Farage's casting as she penned: "If I went on #ImACeleb and found out I was on the show with Nigel Farage, I’d leave and sue for racial negligence… but that’s just me."

And journalist and author Bella Mackie said on Instagram: "I sincerely hope people don’t watch I’m A Celebrity if he’s on it this year. For real. How is this entertainment?"

But Farage's fans are standing firm, with a number wishing him luck after he changed his X profile picture to his I'm A Celeb promo shot on Tuesday morning.

As well as Holmes and Neesom, fellow GB News star Darren Grimes also showed his support as he penned: "Farage is reportedly in the jungle this year. This will be the first time I've watched #ImACeleb in years!"

Farage spoke to GB News ahead of his trip to the jungle to explain exactly why he's decided to take on the challenge.

He explained: "The Brexit referendum was a long time ago, and a lot of younger people don’t know who I am or what I stand for.

"This is a really big chance to reach a big audience of young people which will be good for me and good for GB News as well.

“That’s one reason for doing it. Another reason is, that for over 40 years, I’ve lived by the clock.

“Whether that’s working in financial markets, working in the European Parliament, being a radio broadcaster, a speaker or presenter, I’ve lived by the numbers.
“To go away from that for several weeks is a big challenge. To confront things that are obviously frightening.

“To deal with them and come through them is a really good challenge.”
