A couple from Peterborough now live eight miles apart in mansions with their new spouses

Former spouses who won £32million from the National Lottery have split up and will dive the fortune between them.

Gerry and Lisa Cannings, who vowed to stay “Mr and Mrs Boring and Normal”, will split the winnings after their lottery victory in 2016.

Gerry, 70, is enjoying his life with new love 55-year-old Samantha Cardwell.

Lisa, also 55, is now shacked up with football-mad trucker Carl Weaver.

The ex-couple, who lived in Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, divorced following the lottery win.

They now live just eight miles apart in mansions with their new spouses.

A friend told The Sun: “The reality is Gerry and Lisa split and have both happily found new people to move on with.

"Everyone has tried to make out there was this dramatic split with affairs and things - but it couldn’t be further from the truth.

"Gerry isn’t known as much of a spender so it’s fantastic he’s found someone to help him enjoy all those millions he’s got in the bank."

Gerry and Sam now reportedly reside in a countryside property in Lincolnshire.

Lisa is still at the £2million mansion she bought with Gerry after their 2016 jackpot.

Companies House suggests Gerry and Lisa separated during lockdown in 2020.

Lisa later resigned from the limited company the family used as their investment vehicle.

A farmer in Lincolnshire, who knows Gerry, claimed: "Everyone around here knows Gerry is the lottery winner and Samantha is his new partner.

“He’s a decent fella and we’re chuffed for him but a bit envious that he doesn’t need to work."

Gerry, who lived in a £220,000 house, said at the time: “We’re normal, we just do normal things and we want to carry on doing normal things.

“We don’t really worry about things or make a drama. You could say we’re a bit boring like that."

The former history teacher declined to comment when approached by The Sun this week.
