The former Coronation Street actress was less than impressed with the state of the Underground

Michelle Keegan has joined a long list of disapproving voices expressing their disgust with the state of the London Underground.

Over the past few months, Transport for London has come under fire after several Bakerloo and Central Line trains were targeted by vandals who spray-painted several carriages.

GB News presenter Tom Harwood has been a vocal critic of the vandalism and the seeming acceptance by commuters to be surrounded by the damage day after day.

And now he's not alone. Keegan took to Instagram, where she shared a video inside the carriage of a London Underground train and didn't pull her punches.

Taking aim at the culprits who sprayed the paint all over the carriage, Keegan branded them: "Absolute scruffs!!"

She rounded off her statement with an angry-faced emoji alongside the words: "Makes me cringe."

The new mum's anger has been echoed by thousands of tube users following an increase in the number of vandalised carriages on the tracks.

TfL has previously said that it is removing about 3,000 pieces of graffiti each week on the Central and Bakerloo lines.

It also says the team at the Hainault Depot is "working around the clock" to clear up the mess, removing tens of thousands of pieces.

According to the BBC, TfL's Dan Pincott said: "To remove it, we're using buffers because it's leather dye, not paint.

"It will not come off with normal graffiti remover, so it needs special tools. It's long, hot, hard hours for them to remove it."

Director of asset performance delivery, Richard Jones, also said back in June: "Typically, we had the spares previously where if the train was damaged inside or outside, it would not go into service.

"But in order to maintain the service, some of the damaged trains are having to go into public use.

"It makes the Underground feel less safe, and it can be a magnet for other criminal activity, so it's important to remove and we take it seriously. Customers do complain a lot."

Keegan's complaint comes after the People's Channel's Tom Harwood took matters into his own hands last month.

Using his own elbow grease and work ethic, Tom scrubbed away in a video he shared on social media to highlight the lack of action taken on the tube.

He told his followers: "So have a look at what we've been doing to this tube train. As we know, the Bakerloo line is absolutely riddled with graffiti.

"Well, not anymore, at least not so much. On this particular carriage we have been wiping away.

"We have been using eco cleaner, I'm sure you're glad to know. It shows just how easy it is.

"TfL, get a move on," he urged. "If a couple of guys with some cheap graffiti remover make it look slightly less terrible. You can too."
