Hogan said she popped the question back in February but that something went wrong

Jeremey Clarkson and his girlfriend Lisa Hogan have dropped their biggest hint yet about getting hitched.

The couple have been dating since 2017, with Hogan appearing in several episodes of the former Top Gear presenter’s Amazon series, Clarkson’s Farm.

Hogan decided she would take the next step in their relationship by taking advantage of the leap year on February 29, a date on which women typically propose.

In an episode of Clarkson’s Farm, the couple dropped a hint about tying the knot.

Clarkson hinted at a potential secret wedding while walking in a field with his girlfriend.

“I’ve got a big surprise for you,” Clarkson said.

Hogan quips: “Is it a proposal?”

However, not to be outdone, Clarkson pretended not to hear the remark and instead shows her the surprise he had in mind, revealing a fallen willow tree bursting back into life.

However, continuing to push Clarson on the issue, Hogan said: “I’ll think about the proposal, OK?

“I’m not ready yet.”

In a long-form interview with The Times, Hogan was pressed about the exchange.

Laughing at the question, she said: “I just thought I might surprise him.”

She added: “Jeremy doesn’t think I proposed but he wasn’t wearing his hearing aids, so no one will know.”

The comments come after Clarkson’s former Top Gear co-host, Richard Hammond, defended the Amazon farm show amid a row over authenticity.

Hammond has stood by Clarkson's Farm's authenticity during a TV interview with Christine Lampard on Friday, who put to the former Top Gear-star-turned-podcast-maker: “We had Matt Baker and Nicola on a moment ago talking about farming life, how do you think Jeremy is as a farmer?”

Hammond laughed before admitting: “Well, look, you cannot deny the authenticity of that show.

“The reason why Top Gear worked and The Grand Tour for so many years is because we love the subject - he's genuinely passionate about it.

“I think it was a bit of a surprise... I mean, he's rubbish at it. It was a surprise to the world when he said he was doing it...

“But I know him well enough to know it is genuine. He loves it. He's just useless at it.”
