Grand Tour star James May has taken to social media to offload a furious rant in which he called for a change to “government organisations” and similar institutions.
The 61-year-old was met with a flood of agreement when he fumed in view of his 3.2million followers “we’ve had enough” on X, formerly Twitter.
Expressing exasperation over a universal experience, the car enthusiast called on organisations to make communicating with a person on the phone an easier process.
“Government organisations, hospitals, retail conglomerates, utilities companies, you now have one option. Just answer the b****** telephone,” he penned.
The post continued: “We've had enough. Press one to hear this option again. Why not chat to us on line?” (sic)
Many of his fans swarmed the post with support for the demand, with one even calling for him to lead the nation.

“At least we aren’t the only ones dealing with this,” one X user replied while another added: “Another big reason I support small local businesses. They actually answer the phone!”
“Too expensive for someone to pick up the phone and listen to you whinge,” another quipped.
“In every single country the same,” a fourth commented along with laughing emojis.
A fifth raged: “Special place in hell is for those that have such a confusing menu, just to navigate it to try and speak to someone without being referred to their website...only for them to hang up on you when you finally speak to someone.”

And a sixth wrote: “Tell me about it. I’m dyslexic has you know & I find it a nightmare going on line especially if I’m stressed out. Talking to people helps but you are on the phone forever for them to tell you to go online! it’s vicious circle.”
“Well said. I’m looking forward to May’s Britain (yours, not the one we had before!” another fan joked. (sic)
It’s not the first time May has used social media to hit out at an annoyance, with the presenter recently taking to X to clap back at criticism over the latest episode of The Grand Tour.
After Sand Job launched on Amazon Prime, one fan took particular issue with a joke May had made about Americans in Florida.

He had penned on X to promote the special: "Now that Sand Job is out I can make the formal announcement that, I imagine, many of you have been expecting...Yes, my Maser was the best looking by a desert mile. Deal with it."
But the disgruntled fan took the opportunity to express their annoyance and replied: “'You don’t want to live in Florida, it’s hot and muggy and people there have guns'.
"People being free must be an issue with you. Kiss your crown."
May was soon flooded with support as he decided to respond to the tweet and expose its flaws by simply asking: "How am I less free?"
