The singer was treated for his injuries in France

Elton John was hospitalised on Sunday night after suffering a fall in his villa in Nice, France.

The singer was taken to the orthopaedic department of the Princess Grace hospital centre in Monaco where he was treated for his injuries.

The 76-year-old was discharged on Monday morning and is now back at home in "good health."

In a statement, a representative for John said: "We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure.

"Following check ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and his now back at home and in good health."

John had been spending the summer in France with his husband David Furnish and their two sons.

It comes after he completed his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July.

"He had a small domestic accident at his villa in Mont-Boron," a source in Nice told the Daily Mail.

"He was hospitalised in the orthopaedic department of the Princess Grace Hospital, but was only slightly injured.

"He had a brain scan and a lumbar scan, which revealed no fractures."

He was last spotted enjoying a day on his superyacht with various celebrities in St Tropez on August 22.

In June, he performed a career-spanning headline set on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
