The Breakfast host reflected on his health woes in a candid social media post today

Eamonn Holmes has been flooded with support after he shared a heartbreaking health update on social media, posting a throwback photograph from three years ago that left him feeling deeply saddened.

The GB News presenter, 65, initially shared the image on Instagram this morning before deleting it moments later, then reposting it to his X account for his 1.1 million followers.

The photograph showed the Breakfast fan-favourite looking dapper in a suit and black trench coat, standing confidently in what appeared to be a car park in front of a DMC-12 sports car, with a TV camera crew visible in the background.

Accompanying the image, Eamonn wrote: "Great picture popped up from 3 years but it's made me sad - I could walk."

He concluded the poignant post with a sad-faced emoji and added: "Got to redouble my efforts."

Fans soon rushed to the comments of the post with their messages of support and encouragement, with Eamonn confirming to one concerned fan he was "mostly" using a wheelchair nowadays.

Another follower suggested to Eamonn: "You need to surround yourself with people who genuinely care about you, the person, not for your name, status, and finance."

The People's Channel presenter remained downbeat, however, replying to the X user: "Few people truly care about the sick Lynda - do they?"

Elsewhere in the comments, however, Eamonn did his best to show support to his followers who were in similar predicaments, doing his bit to spread positivity with those also suffering.

The social media post comes just days after he suffered a fall during an episode of Breakfast last week. While presenting the breakfast show with co-host Ellie Costello, a crash could be heard off-screen as the camera focused on guest commentator Charlie Rowley.

Ellie was heard exclaiming "Oh my gosh" as Eamonn urged Charlie to "carry on" before the programme cut to an extended six-minute break.

Upon returning, Eamonn's humour shone through as he joked: "Welcome back. Good to see you again. Especially good for me to see you again. I am still alive, yes."

Addressing the incident, he told viewers: "They're very wonky wheels on chairs that we've got here, and matter of fact, we don't really like the chairs full stop, do we? They're a bit slippy and slidey and I've slipped and slid off mine there."

Eamonn revealed the fall was particularly distressing because he had been hospitalised just two weeks earlier following a similar accident at home.

"It was a bit of a shock for me because I've had a fall in my bathroom two weeks ago, which hospitalised me, and that hit me again right in the back. Really, really sore. Really sore," he said.

Eamonn has been bravely battling chronic back pain for several years, particularly since undergoing spinal surgery in 2022 for three slipped discs.

The presenter has been working hard on his rehabilitation but has been forced to rely on mobility aids, including a walking frame and wheelchair, as his condition has affected his movement.

Eamonn has long struggled with health issues after dislodging discs in his back, which he said previously impinged on his sciatic nerve and affected the mobility of his right leg.

He has undergone spinal surgery, a double hip replacement, and has spoken openly about his difficulties with walking and using a mobility scooter.

In 2021, his chronic back pain began seemingly out of the blue, with the pain becoming so severe it left him reliant on a walking stick before he discovered the root cause was three slipped discs.
