Cowan’s arrival injected a fresh perspective into Diddly Squat, offering viewers something they hadn’t seen in the previous three seasons

Fans of Clarkson’s Farm have been left disheartened after fan-favourite newcomer Harriet Cowan made her exit from the show, following the return of farm manager Kaleb Cooper.

Cowan, 24, was introduced to viewers earlier this month in the season four trailer, stepping in as a temporary replacement for Cooper while he embarked on a nationwide stage tour.

And as the new episodes began airing, fans quickly saw just how seamlessly Cowan adapted to life at Diddly Squat Farm.

Brought in for just a few weeks, Cowan wasted no time building a rapport with Clarkson, proving she wasn’t afraid to get stuck into the muddy reality of farm life.

Clarkson praised her as “brilliant” for her farming skills, and the pair shared several memorable moments- whether it was Cowan plucking Clarkson’s eyebrows or shining a light on the often-overlooked issue of loneliness among farmers.

Cowan’s arrival injected a fresh perspective into Diddly Squat, offering viewers something they hadn’t seen in the previous three seasons. Her presence struck a chord with fans, who were drawn to her warmth and work ethic.

However, as Kaleb Cooper returned to the farm, Cowan’s time on the show came to an end, leaving fans who had grown fond of her presence at the Chipping Norton farm disappointed by her departure.

One viewer wrote on social media: “Please bring Harriet back, she was a fantastic addition and when the mood hoover came back (Kaleb) it went a bit sour. Harriet [is] hard working and great fun.”

Another fan added: “Harriet was a real breath of fresh air,” while a third chimed in: “She was bloody amazing, well done girl!”

A fourth commented: “She was amazing! Beautiful, funny, incredible at the job she was doing! I thought Kaleb was a right idiot when he heard about her on the farm! Please bring her back.”

A fifth echoed the sentiment: “Harriet was amazing, brought so much to the show, please bring her back,” while another said: “Thought she was such a hard worker, bless her.”

However, not all viewers were as enthusiastic. One person wrote: “Not a fan at all. She was far too heavily scripted and totally cringe worthy.” Another agreed: “The Harriet stuff was so heavily scripted it may as well have been Emmerdale farm.”

Meanwhile, Clarkson, 65, has spoken highly of Cowan since her introduction and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of her returning to the farm.

Praising Cowan's insight, particularly with shining a light on the loneliness problem among farmers and how social media can help, Clarkson conceded: "It was a surprise to me. I think a lot of people, certainly of my generation, look at kids on TikTok and think, ‘What is the point of this meaningless existence they’re all having?’

"But then she explained that it was a way she can connect with other people when she’s doing something, because it is lonely. It suddenly made sense.

"Even though she’s only a kid, she knows people who have killed themselves. I thought it was a poignant moment. The problem with these young farmers is they have no money.

"Their friends go to the pub at night and they can’t afford to go, and their friends go on holiday, but they can’t afford to go."

Turning his attention to a possible return to the farm for Cowan, Clarkson continued to The Sun: "It’s a reality show. We don’t just bring characters in because the TV show needs it. You bring them in because you really need them."

Concluding with a sweet tribute to the farmhand, he added: "I loved Harriet to bits and I wish her all the very best. She was fantastic to have around. But the truth is, we’ve got Kaleb, and he might go off and do Celebrity Love Island or something, and if I can’t manage, I’ll call Harriet in a heartbeat."
