The Strictly Come Dancing professional is heading for a new round of chemotherapy on Thursday

Strictly's Amy Dowden went public with her breast cancer diagnosis back in May and has regularly shared updates with her fans with how she's doing.

Earlier this month, Dowden was left in tears as she shared insight to her first round of chemotherapy treatment, while in July, she revealed doctors had found "another type" of cancer.

Dowden has been branded an "inspiration" for her candor and resilience following her diagnosis as she maintains an upbeat attitude towards the future.

And this was no more evident than in her latest update shared with her Instagram followers.

The 33-year-old took to the social media platform to repost a video from 2017 which showed her performing at a dance competition.

She had previously captioned the clip: "#tbt to the ultimate cup challenge last year. #chachacha #dancers #latin #strictly #throwbackthursday."

After reposting the video onto her Instagram Story, Dowden proved she's still fully expecting to make a return to the dancefloor and glitz and glam of Strictly.

She penned alongside: "Oh how I can't wait to be back on the dance floor performing again!

"Most night I dream about dancing atm," the Strictly star added. (sic)

Dowden's look to the future comes on the same day she heads for her second round of chemotherapy.

In another update on Thursday, Dowden shared with her followers the outfit she would be wearing for the treatment in order for her to be as comfortable as possible.

"Chemo day number two, and I have to share this," Dowden said as she laid out the top in front of her.

She continued: "I’ve been sent this and it’s so comfy, but it’ll help others, which is why I want to share it.

"I’ve got my trousers on already. Look, breast cancer ribbon here, but for those with ports like myself, you can just unzip and they can access your port because you get really cold with the cold cap.

"Or if you’ve got a port on your chest, there’s a zip," she added before demonstrating how the outfit functioned.

"But look how beautiful it is and it’s got the breast cancer ribbon," Dowden continued before she signed off: "So thank you so, so much!

"Gonna feel pretty in pink at least."

Dowden underwent her first round of chemotherapy last week and admitted to her followers she was left in tears by the ordeal.

Sharing a photo of herself in an ice cap, she penned: "Chemo 1 done! I looked worse going in than coming out actually. I didn’t sleep, I got there and I just burst into tears.

"Luckily my pink sister made sure I walked in and helped me through it and distracted from the brain freeze of the cold cap. (Wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be!).

"Thank you @jenny.markey not sure what I would do without you! Lucky to have you! Red Devil went in, had another cry but I’ve left knowing chemo 1 done and not as bad as I thought.

"This is due to the incredible team and nurses! Thank you NHS! Hopefully not too many side affects."

Touching on a return to the dancefloor again, she added: "One step closer to being back on the dance floor. (that’s what’s hurting the most right now, I’d do anything to be there with my fellow strictly pros right now). But for now chemo 1 (ticked)."

Dowden was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023 and soon after announced her withdrawal from this year's Strictly.
