It was a huge win for Tottenham, especially given how they weren't at their swashbuckling best.
The result means they're now above Aston Villa ahead of their own showdown with Wolves later today.
As things stand, Tottenham will be playing Champions League football next term.
Yet Postecoglou has complained his side 'should have made' things easier for themselves as they battled their way to victory.
"It's a game we probably should have made easier for ourselves," he told the BBC.
"Everyone's fighting for something and Luton weren't just going to lie down for us. We had to earn the win and I thought we did that."
Tottenham have made a habit of scoring late goals since the arrival of the charismatic Australian.
And the 58-year-old, when asked about that, said: "I think it's important.
"I was disappointed with the goal we conceded, thought it was preventable.
"I thought for the most part the boys kept calm heads and kept playing football."
Son also spoke after the game.
And the South Korea international hailed his side for showing 'great character' as they secured all three points.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, the Tottenham captain said: "It was really tough. It was an intense game. It was tough but we knew it would be after the international break, it's always a bit more difficult than usual.
"The Premier League is never easy. I think we showed great character.
"The three points is massive for us. We don't want it to always end like this, it could be nicer when we have it earlier to make it three points."

On missing so many chances, he added: "I was really frustrated.
"There were good passes and I think today I feel like it was an unlucky day, hit the post twice.
"Until the end I was getting frustrated but I wanted to stay calm as captain and didn't want to show too much emotion. I'm very pleased I helped the team to get three points."
Son is now Tottenham's sixth highest-scorer in their history.
Reflecting on that achievement, the former Bayer Leverkusen star said: "Playing for one club for almost ten years is an incredible feeling and a big honour for me.

"I didn't even realise how many goals I'd scored I want to thank everyone who played with me and coached me for their big effort.
"I want to put as much as I can for the team, football is a team sport and the individual comes afterwards. In the last nine games I want to give everything for the team."
