President Donald Trump has announced he was extending the Iran ceasefire until an Iranian proposal is submitted, just hours after saying he opposes further extensions.
The President, in a post on Truth Social, said he was acting at the request of Pakistan to hold off attacks until Iranian leaders and representatives could come up with what he called a unified proposal.
His announcement came just hours after he told CNBC Washington and Tehran would reach a "great deal".
When asked if he would back prolonging the truce to buy more time for the talks to take place, President Trump said: "Well, I don’t want to do that."
In the Truth Social Post, President Trump said: "I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other."
