The attack is the latest in London's string of assaults on Britain's Jewish community

Two teenagers have been arrested after an "firebomb" attack targeted a synagogue in Harrow over the weekend.

A man had been seen lighting a bag in the doorway, which officials later discovered to contain three bottles with fluid in them, at around midnight on Sunday before he fled the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman previously detailed the attack at Kenton United Synagogue in north west London.

Smoke filled a room after a "bottle with some sort of accelerant had been thrown through the window", the force said.

The shopfront sustained limited damage while police reported no injuries from the attack.

On Monday morning, Matt Jukes, deputy commissioner of the force, confirmed a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the attack.

He said: "I’m really pleased to say that overnight, we have news of two arrests in relation to that incident.”

He added: "We’ve made over the last weeks 15 arrests in relation to a series of six incidents that have targeted Jewish premises, the Jewish-led ambulance service and a Persian media organisation."

Iranian-backed proxies are now the subject of police investigations into the latest attacks on Britain's Jewish community.

Mr Jukes added: "I think that's a very serious line of inquiry in relation to these events, we've seen a pattern… people taking cash as it looks like quick and easy money.

"Teams I led have put in prison individuals like Dylan Earl, who is serving a 17-year prison sentence for acting on behalf of the Wagner group, in that case, Russian connected. But this is part of the modern hybrid war fought by proxies."

Following the incident in north west London, deputy assistant commissioner Vicki Evans confirmed that Counter Terrorism Policing are leading all of the investigations into the string of incidents in recent weeks.
